Kateri has experience with large and small clients, in both government and private sectors. She has litigated a wide range of legal matters including professional liability, consumer fraud, contract breach, premises liability, wrongful death, personal injury, land use, and employment law matters. Kateri has successfully defended clients in suits in state and federal court and has obtained favorable outcomes for her clients. She was recognized as a Rising Star by SuperLawyers in 2024. Kateri is passionate about serving her local community and improving the lives of all New Mexicans. While attending the University of New Mexico School of Law, Kateri was a W.K. Kellogg Child and Family Justice Advocate and a 2019 Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Fellow. Ms. West developed oral and written advocacy skills by competing on the American Bar Association National Appellate Advocacy Competition moot court team. She also served as a teaching assistant, a research assistant, and the student representative to the Curriculum Committee. Kateri received the Ann C. Upon graduation, Ms. Lopez was among the top students of her graduating class and received a LexisNexis Award for Top Academic Achievement, the UNM School of Law’s Faculty Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Law School, and the West Academic Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the Third Year. She also graduated with the distinction of summa cum laude and is a member of the Order of the Coif honor society. In addition to her legal expertise, Ms. Lopez brings over twelve years of work experience with the State of New Mexico. She received a paralegal certificate from the Albuquerque Career Institution in 1986. She has worked for numerous law firms in Santa Fe and brings over 40 years as a legal assistant and paralegal to the firm. Sandra joined Saiz, Chanez, Sherrell + Kaemper earlier this year after working for a large Albuquerque law firm and provides ongoing assistance to the lawyers at the firm. She worked for a variety of law firms in Santa Fe, New Mexico until 2000. Ms. Christy’s career took her to Washington, DC where she was employed as the Paralegal Coordinator at former Ross, Dixon & Bell until mid-2003. After a year at a law firm in New Jersey to create their paralegal program, she returned to New Mexico. Christine worked for the PNM Legal Department in 2005-2007 with a focus on rate case litigation. In 2008, Christine joined a large law firm in Albuquerque, New Mexico, primarily focusing on defense litigation, with an emphasis on medical malpractice and nursing home litigation. Ms. Christy retired in March 2022; however, it was a short-lived retirement.
